Most of these cpus are overkill for all but the newest xp games. I'm running a freaking Pentium D and there are very few games from the era I can't hit 60fps on (seems to be the poorly optimized ones like Redguard). Core2 Dells are cheap as hell to get now from govt/school surplus auctions and would barely break a sweat on xp-era software. I got Minecraft 1.16.5 to run on Windows XP. I've seen a few people manage to get Minecraft working on even Windows 98! I remember someone got it to run on Windows 2000 a few years back. It's not possible to run it on Windows 3.1 because it only supports 16-bit applications, and it probably doesn't support Java. This hacked installation works for some games, but as soon as you need Steam workshop or other third party components/libs, then it doesn’t work. Steam will try to download the external dependencies and fails. It’s better to just go with GOG games or original CD/DVD installers. 2. ShaknunicSeK.
